How To Insert Check Marks Into Microsoft Word Documents
In this quick tech how-to video, I’m going to show you how to add a check mark and another useful symbol easily into a Microsoft Word document.

Type check mark symbol in Word using Alt Code The alt code to type the checkbox symbol in Word is 10003. Use 10004 for a heavy checkmark. To use this alt code type the check mark symbol in Word, obey the following instructions.

To get started, open a new Word document or an existing one you already have.
Place your cursor in the spot you’d like to insert the symbol at, and then choose Insert from the top menu bar.
Check mark is one of the emoji symbol as per Unicode character specification. Both on Windows and Mac, you can use emoji keyboard to insert check mark emoji symbol. Press, “Win +;” keys in Windows PC to open emoji keyboard. You can either search for check mark or type “tick” or “check” to filter the symbol. Find out the Check Mark Symbol in Ribbon if you do not have Classic Menu for Office. Click the Insert tab; Go to Text group; Click the Symbol button; Figure 3: Symbols button in Ribbon. After clicking the symbol button, you will enter the Symbol dialog box. You can just follow the steps we mentioned above to find out the Check Mark Symbols.

How To Type Check Mark & Checkbox Symbols In Word ...
Next select Advanced Symbol on the right side of the Insert Ribbon.

From the font dropdown list, select Wingdings. This is a symbol font that is installed on every machine.
Now you will have the choice of a bunch of different symbols to use.
Choose the check mark and either double click it or press Insert. It will then place the checkmark where you need it.
Another useful symbol is the empty check mark box. You can use it on a printable chore list for example as I have here.
Again, place the cursor where I’d like the box, go to Insert, and then Advance Symbol.
Select Wingdings again from the font dropdown list, place your cursor where you’d like the boxes to go, and press Insert. Do this for each line like this.
And it's that easy to add symbols like check marks and check boxes inside of a Microsoft Word document.
